Who Goes on the Women’s Week?

The women’s week offers female skiers the chance to come away for a skiing break on their own, or to bring a friend.  Whether it is because you don’t know anyone else who skis, you want to improve your skiing away from the pressure of your family or usual group of friends, or you simply want to get away for a week to relax and have fun, coming on the women’s week means you have skiing company during the day and a group to socialize with in the evenings.  One of the perks is the beautiful Garden Hotel Crystal with it’s luxurious Atrium Spa, fabulous rooms and delicious five-course meals.   The majority of skiers joining the women’s week are aged between 40 – 65, but we do get younger and older skiers joining the groups as well.

Where do we ski?

The aim of the women’s week is to provide a relaxed, supportive environment in which female skiers can improve their skiing together.  It attracts female skiers who are looking for a week of enjoyable, relaxed skiing as well as those wanting to push themselves out of their comfort zone.   The group tends to include experienced, advanced skiers as well as intermediate skiers who are looking to improve their skills and confidence.

A typical week includes five days of morning ski sessions (from Monday to Friday), where skiers are split into intermediate and advanced groups to work with a female instructor on their skiing skills.  There is always an optional afternoon session of instruction or ski guiding on offer to join in with, or you can do as you please in the afternoons.

Most of the skiing takes place in the nearby ski areas of Spieljoch, Hochfuegen and Hochzillertal.  Occasionally we will go on a day out to Zell am Ziller or another ski area, depending on the conditions and needs of the group.

Saturdays are left free for you to ski with your new skiing buddies, or take a day off.  Sometimes an optional extra day of guiding or instruction may be arranged for the Saturday once in resort.

Where do we stay?

Accommodation is at the fabulous four star superior Garden Hotel Crystal.  Stay in a superior double room with en-suite facilities, including single occupancy if you are travelling on your own, or you can share the room as a twin if you are coming with a friend.

You have the privacy of your own room, but are seated together with the Women’s Week group at mealtimes.  The group usually meet in the charming hotel bar for drinks before moving to the restaurant for the fabulous five course evening meals.  Breakfast is an extensive buffet and there is also a lunch buffet offered in the afternoons.

The perk of the women’s week trip are the included spa treatments in the newly completed Atrium Spa, which are a great way to relax after a day on the slopes.

Make a real difference to your skiing…

The Women’s Week Package has developed over the last 20 years to include morning ski lessons with a female instructor in an intermediate or advanced ski group.  Optional afternoon sessions  are an opportunity to develop different aspects of your skiing.  Whether you are keen to ski faster, challenge yourself to ski more interesting terrain or want to work on a specific skill, it is another chance to make a real difference to your skiing.

Flights are usually to Munich airport (MUC), although we do sometimes quote flights to Innsbruck airport (INN) and may occasionally quote flights to Salzburg (SZG).  Transfer times from Munich are approx. 2 hours, from Innsbruck approx. 1 hour and from Salzburg approx. 2.5 hours.  Transfers are usually by minibus, with up to 8 people sharing the transfer, although very occasionally we do use a coach at times when a lot of people have booked the same flights.

If you prefer to make your own travel arrangements because you want to drive, come by train or are travelling from overseas or for other reasons, let us know and we can tailor your package to suit your individual travel needs.

Women’s Ski Holiday – Ski Lessons

Women’s Ski Holiday – Lift Passes and Hire

A 6-day “Super Zillertal” lift pass is included in the women’s ski holiday package.  This covers over 500km, all of skiing in the Ziller Valley.  It also includes use of the ski buses and train when travelling to and from the different ski areas.

6 days of Equipment Hire can be included depending on your needs and skiing level.  One of the Redpoint Resort Team will assist and advise you at the ski hire shop upon arrival when you go to collect your equipment.  It is best to pre-book one of the standard options, but it will still be possible to amend or upgrade this once you try on equipment in the shop.

Choices of ski fall into the categories of Bronze, Silver or Gold.  The Bronze skis are best suited to first-time skiers, as they are more forgiving when learning the very basics at slow speeds.  Silver skis will suit most intermediate skiers who ski mainly the blue and red runs.  The Gold ski category is ideal for those skiers who ski the black runs and more difficult terrain, or those who usually have their own equipment.

Boots also come as Standard or Deluxe options, but the most important thing with the ski boot is making sure it fits you well, which can only be finalized once you are in the shop.  Our representatives can advise you once in resort.

Poles are included with the ski hire.  It is also possible to hire a helmet if you don’t already have one.

Women’s Ski Holiday FAQ’s

Am I a good enough skier to join the lessons? 2017-09-14T21:44:02+00:00

To join the ski lessons, you must be able to go up the ski lift on a blue run and make controlled linked turns down to the bottom of the slope by yourself.  This would usually mean that you have skied for at least a week before coming on this holiday.  The group will be split into intermediate and advanced skiers once resort, so we will be able to place you into the level of group that suits you once we have skied together on the first morning.  There is no provision for complete beginners to join this holiday – if you are a first-time skier, or have not attained the level of being able to ski independently up the ski lift and back down to the bottom of a blue run on your own yet, then please see our Learn to Ski Packages, which will be better suited to your level.

I have never travelled on my own before, when will I meet the group? 2017-09-14T22:06:53+00:00

There is no need to worry about travelling on your own.  You will usually meet other guests on the transfer to resort and will be seated together at mealtimes. Our resort team are on hand to welcome you and make sure you know when and where to meet and the hotel staff are friendly and welcoming so you will soon feel at home.

Do I need a Super Zillertal Lift Pass, or can I buy one for just the local ski area? 2017-09-19T11:28:13+00:00

Once you buy a lift pass for more than 2 days in a row, then there are no local-area pass options, so all skiers buy the “Super Zillertal” pass regardless of their skier level.

I have Special Dietary Requirements, who should I tell? 2017-09-14T21:46:11+00:00

The hotel has 3 choices of main course on the menu every evening, one of which is vegetarian, so there is no need to notify us if you are vegetarian.  If you have other special dietary requirements, such as gluten-free or lactose intolerant, then please let us know when making your booking so that we can notify the hotel in advance.  Once you arrive at the hotel, please mention this again when checking in and on your first time in the restaurant so that the staff can put a face to the name.  You can then discuss your needs directly.  If you need to have alternative meals especially made for you or have other special needs, there may be a small charge made to cover the extra services.  This can be arranged directly with the hotel on arrival.

Allergic to Down Duvets? 2017-09-14T21:47:36+00:00

Please note that the rooms have down pillows and duvets, so you will need to make a special request for non-feather bedding if you have an allergy to feathers.
